Here is another example (from the ESPN message board) of what I am talking about in regard to the stupid reactions we’ve seen from this whole mess that involves Turner Gill, Gene Chizik, Charles Barkley, Auburn University, Lane Kiffin, the University of Tennessee and more.

Lets see where to begin, Gene Chizik, he was Assistant Coach of the year in 2004 and was DC of the 13-0 Auburn team that got hosed by the BCS. Furthermore he is from the South and is familiar with the High School coaches and has recruiting inroads. As a high school coach in Florida I can tell you from personal experience he is great coach, great recruiter and an even better person. Turner Gill had a nice season at Buffalo, but did you see their schedule? What do you think Turner Gills record would of been in the Big 12 ? He would of been lucky to win 5 games. Bottomline Chizik has coached in the SEC and is more familar with the landscape, his hiring makes more sense than Gill, and anyone with a non racist brain can see that.

It is so pathetic to see the black race predictably pull out the race card every time they PERCEIVE something does not go their way. It is nothing but weak A $$ B.S. excuse making and speaks volumes.

COMMENTS: This writer does not mention that Chizik is 5-19 overall and coming into this job off a 10-game losing streak. This writer mentions that Turner Gill had “a nice season” and then proceeds to bash his schedule. This writer does not tell you that Gill improved a downtrodden Buffalo program and went from 2-10, to 5-7, to 8-5 with a Mid-American Conference championship and a win over previously undefeated Ball State in the championship game. This writer talks about Chizik’s resume as being a defensive coordinator for Auburn’s 13-0 season. The writer does not mention that Turner Gill was an assistant coach for three national championship teams at Nebraska. Gill was a position coach for two All-Americans at Nebraska (Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch) and he coached a Heisman Trophy winner (Crouch). The writer does not tell you that Gill also has National Football League experience. The writer bashes Buffalo for the schedule it played, but the MAC has proven to be a strong conference and he was coaching a MAC team against MAC competition. So the competition argument is stupid. The writer searches for every excuse possible to justify Chizik’s hiring, but it doesn’t fly. Then the writer talks about “the black race” and “the race card” and “excuse making” at the end of a ridiculous post. People like this are why this nation may never truly come together.

I was reading an article about the Black Coaches and Administrators considering legal action over the NCAA’s poor record of getting its members to truly consider and hire qualified black coaches or black coaches who are at least as qualified as white peers. But, racism thrives in hiring practices when people like this open their mouths:

Schools don’t seem to have a problem recruiting black kids who can play ball, so I’m pretty sure they would take on a black coach with a proven track record. Who are some of the guys getting passed over so this frivolous-looking lawsuit can tie up our legal system?

COMMENT: Schools do not have a problem recruiting black athletes because they can control the black athletes and the black athletes make the coaches look good. How can blacks be good enough to be athletes, but not be good enough to coach a team? Who are some of the guys getting passed over? How about if we start with Buffalo head coach Turner Gill, who appears to have been a token interviewee at Auburn University during that recent farce of a coaching search.

Give me one example, one real example, over the last 15 years that backs up your statements. Please. Show me the evidence that proves that blacks have less of an opportunity in the real word based upon their skin color. No bias, no heresay, actual facts. Try not to hurt yourself.

COMMENT: This, again, is why racism thrives. People work hard to convince themselves that Turner Gill was fairly judged next to Gene Chizik’s 5-19 record and 10-game losing streak. People like this convince themselves that Lane Kiffin is the top candidate in a so-called “national search” coming off his poor coaching record. How many black candidates are being hired for big-time job opportunities? When they are hired (Tyrone Willingham) they are not given nearly the opportunity that white coaches are given (Charlie Weis). Willingham got another chance at Washington and failed, but he clearly did not get a fair shake at Notre Dame in comparison to Weis.

The NCAA has a poor record of hiring black football coaches. And, it now appears the Black Coaches and Administrators is considering some kind of legal action to remedy this troubling record by the largest so-called governing body of intercollegiate athletics. While the Lane Kiffins and the Gene Chiziks of the world seem to get great opportunities to become head football coaches at major Division I powers like Tennessee and Auburn, black head coaches like Turner Gill are passed over in spite of their success rebuilding downtrodden programs. Said Floyd Keith, the executive director of the BCA, in an Associated Press article, “I think someone is going to get tired of listening to the excuses. We’re giving them [the coaches] every opportunity, but we can’t select the individuals. The individuals have to bring this forward. We are looking very strongly at every case, and we’re taking it on an individual basis.” Sadly, token interviews are a good first step, but not good enough when just four of 119 Division I A (Football Bowl Subdivision) coaches are black.

Juan Williams is ridiculous some times. Does Juan, who is substituting as a host for Bill O’Reilly’s show, “The O’Reilly Factor,” is attempting to convey the message that somehow liberals in the United States of America are somehow pleased with the shoes that were thrown at President Bush during his visit to Iraq. Maybe a few people thought it was funny, but I doubt anyone would have thought it was funny had the president been injured or worse. I doubt very many people condone the behavior or would advocate such behavior. It is amazing how irresponsible ”journalists” make blind assertions about how all people who are left wingers or liberals feel about the incident. Juan Williams is simply being ignorant. He is playing right into the O’Reilly (bashing the left wing and make blanket negative claims about left wingers) talking points and repeating them as if he was little more than a well-trained parrot or a ventriloquist doll being operated from afar by O’Reilly.  Once again, Juan has disgraced himself and offered further validation that the “O’Reilly Factor” is simply a right-wing show that is unbalanced and attacks the left wing.
