Harry Alford was on Bill O’Reilly’s right-wing Fox News show to discuss his heated and highly-publicized confrontation with Sen. Barbara Boxer during a committee meeting. Obviously, when race is a factor it grabs the attention of a lot of people (it’s even more interesting when you have a black conservative and a white liberal). I still question Boxer’s motives and wonder why she brought race into the issue the way she did (and why she did not have others there to testify rather than read their opinions from paper). But, we’ve been down that road. The more I listen to Alford the more I hear his inner right winger beginning to come out. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with it, but Alford runs the risk of overplaying his hand by trying to portray Boxer as something she clearly isn’t. Boxer may be a partisan, and she may be arrogant as hell, but she is no racist.
