Conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage, who has a strong following (indicative of some sick people out there), shows us some of his true colors right here.

Media Matters for America, a watchdog group, has done a fantastic job of driving the right-wing nuts by exposing their sins to the public. But, as you might expect, the right wingers don’t seem to have a whole lot of love for Media Matters.

Normally, I would not spend a whole lot of time commenting on the comments that (usually) anonymous people leave on blog sites. Fox Nation, the blog arm of the Fox News empire, has had continuing issues with hateful language on its blog site (as posted by readers). News Hounds has a blog entry about a series of racist comments directed at Roland Martin who, probably most notably, is a CNN commentator. Martin was critical of Sarah Palin in a column he wrote. As David Letterman discovered, not much gets the righties tighties in a bunch more than virtually any criticism of Sarah Palin. For the record, Martin is black (but you will see that quick when you see some of the racism directed at him by some cowardly and racist Fox Nation visitors).

Here is a screen shot captured by News Hounds:

Over the years, I’ve heard Bill O’Reilly be very critical of blogs like Daily Kos and Huffington Post for nasty comments posted by visitors. But, it seems people like O’Reilly are very silent about O’Reilly (unless he has done a segment that I’ve not seen criticizing Fox Nation).

Here is the other screen shot from News Hounds:

Is this what Fox is all about?

Where is the outrage from people like Bill O’Reilly?

Excellent work by News Hounds to catch this.

Bill O’Reillyis setting the stage for crying and complaining about the negative reactions to his demonizing of Dr. George Tiller, an abortion doctor who performed legal and private procedures for women. O’Reilly repeatedly cited that some people refer to Dr. Tiller as “Tiller the baby killer.” O’Reilly did slip up and call him “Dr. Killer” once and at least one other time referred to him director as “Tiller the baby killer.” He had a teaser on his show highlighting his attention to cry more about others in the media who have and continue to be critical of him as O’Reilly continues to bash the dead Dr. Tiller.

Right-wing talk show nut Tammy Bruce, who has a history of making nasty and disparaging comments (I don’t remember Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity hosting segments saying BARACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA UNDER SIEGE) about President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, sounded angry in this clip captured by Media Matters for America.

BRUCE: (Barack Obama) wants to prove himself indispensable by destroying everything. It’s like setting fire to a house, running through and rescuing everybody and then trying to be a hero when you’re the one who started the damned fire. That’s what he is … the crazy fireman.

Oh, what anger coming from Tammy Bruce.

Historically, the Southern Poverty Law Center has done amazing work combating hate and creating awareness about hate groups and trends in hate around the United States.

Here are some comments from racist nuts (in regard to the election of Barack Obama as the first black president of the United States) compiled by SPLC:

“I believe tonight is a night of tragedy and sadness for our people… . [T]he country is not recognizable any more.”
— Former Klan leader David Duke

“Someone will kill him! And I will celebrate!”
—Neo-Nazi activist Hal Turner

“I consider this to be the darkest day in American history since the end of the Civil War. They might as well have put Bin Laden in the White House.”
—Comment posted in an online forum of the Traditional Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan

“An Obama presidency … will only intensify racial polarization and stimulate greater white racial consciousness and self-assertiveness. More of the sleepers will waken.”
—Greg Johnson writing in The Occidental Quarterly, a far-right race journal

“[T]he next four years could prove to be the biggest bonanza ever for open borders advocates.”
—Federation for American Immigration Reform, a nativist hate group

“It could mean an awakening of our spirit and blood. Every time the television shows an image of Obama, it will be a reminder that our people have lost power in this country.”
—Thom Robb, national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan

If you think these men are so far out of the mainstream, don’t be so sure. Turner, as an example, has had an association over the years with Sean Hannity, a prominent Fox News talk show host.

Right-wing nut Rush Limbaugh is in denial about the simmering anger and resentment around this country in regard to the election of the first black president of the United States of America. Obviously, it’s not an across-the-board hatred, but it is present. You can see the growing anti-Muslim hatred, the growing hostility toward Hispanics (read between the lines of the so-called anti-immigration debate). We’ve seen the assassination of Dr. George Tiller, who performed legal abortion procedures for women; the murder of Pvt. William Long, an innocent man; and, most recently, the crazed white supremacist shooting and killing (Stephen T. Johns, a veteran security guard) at the Holocaust Memorial Museum.

LIMBAUGH: For liberals to claim that the atmosphere is somehow more violently anti-Obama is simply preposterous.

It was just a matter of time before the attacks on Shepard Smith (who had the courage to stand up and speak out about the growing angry and increasingly violent atmosphere that was described in the Department of Homeland Security report on growing right-wing extremism in the U.S.). That statement just goes to show how biased and dumb Limbaugh sounds.

All of this hateful rhetoric from the Republicans is going to get them nowhere with the American people. The election of 2008 showed them as much. All the bashing and distorting in the world will not ease the sting of the results of the November 2008 election. The Republicans had the power, for the previous eight years, and produced disastrous results – results we’re still paying for today and will continue to pay for.

Republicans have nothing positive to offer and that is why their party is struggling as bad as it is these days.

Democrats should hope people like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and Jon Voight continue to stand as the face of the Republican Party.

Conservative Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly is on Townhall.com trying to justify to readers his hateful speech that helped create a hostile atmosphere surrounding the late Dr. George Tiller. Over and over again, O’Reilly repeated the line “Tiller the baby killer” as he attacked (repeatedly) Dr. Tiller, a man who bravely provided legal abortions to girls and women. Repeating that line is designed to reinforce in listeners and viewers how dangerous O’Reilly truly believed Dr. Tiller was. Read O’Reilly’s entry (as much as you can stomach) on Townhall.com and see how he fakes outrage in the beginning of the blog before he spends the rest of it building a case of hate against Dr. George Tiller. It’s a hit piece against a dead man. It’s a reprehensible blog by O’Reilly who fakes feeling pained by Dr. Tiller’s death, builds a case against the dead man and then takes another opportunity to attack liberals.

Hardcore right-wing commentator Rush Limbaugh has made a living trashing minorities to please his largely old, white and conservative audience. Limbaugh’s latest hysterical rant, featured in audio captured by Media Matters for America, has the bouncy one trying to stir up fear and divisiveness with comments like this one, “The days of (minorities) not having any power are over, and they are angry.” Seems like Rush continues to sip on Limbaugh-flavored Haterade.

Here is some hate speech from The Fox Forum. I wonder if Bill O’Reilly will be policing this hate the way he polices the user-generated comments left on so-called liberal blog sites. I’m sure O’Reilly, being fair and balanced as he claims to be, will condemn these remarks in the strongest possible terms. I mean, if he is consistent, he will attack The Fox Nation and The Fox Forum the way he attacks Think Progress, The Huffington Post and The Daily Kos. That is what someone who is objective would do, isn’t it? Of course, since O’Reilly is neither fair nor balanced, none of us should expect any outrage from America’s Daddy over these hateful comments (including one hoping for the death of our president). These hateful comments are in regard to a “Don’t Speak: What We Don’t Want to Hear in Obama’s Muslim Speech” blog posted by Judith Miller. I don’t agree with everything Miller said, most notably the tired implication that President Obama is going on an apology tour (a conservative/Republican talking point).

He could fairly point out that there is as much extremism in America as in their parts of the world. One only needs to read the bile on these pages to see that.

I would encourage all people to take an opportunity to read Media Matters for America writer Karl Frisch’s intriguing written piece on “The Fox Nation.” This fairly-new blog site has turned into little more than a safe haven (a virtual cesspool) for right-wing hate to grow and prosper.

Media Matters for America:
http://mediamatters.org/columns/200906020036

Fox News has a story on its Web site with a headline that reads: “Pro-Life Leaders Denounce Murder Of Abortion Doctor George Tiller.”

But, it’s the sub-headline that interests me: “Opponents of abortion condemned the murder of abortion provider George Tiller but used a platform outside the Supreme Court Monday to blast President Obama’s abortion policies and strongly question the beliefs of his high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.”

First, how about the lack of respect to not refer to him as Dr. George Tiller, but instead refer to him as “abortion provider George Tiller.” I know it was used in the headline, but I find it a little interesting that label him as “abortion provider” rather than “doctor” or along with “doctor.” So, the pr0-lifers are exploiting the death of Dr. George Tiller to take cheap shots at President Barack Obama and U.S. Supreme Court justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor. That is plain disgusting.

Here are a couple of head-scratching quotes from the story:

“It is immoral and it is unchristian,” Rev. Rob Schenck of the National Clergy Council said of Tiller’s murder. He said the reaction to it “becomes a greater setback to the pro-life movement than anything the so-called pro-choice movement could do.”

“We call on President Obama and the [congressional leaders] not to use this tragedy for political gain,” added Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalitions.

That takes a lot of nerve for a man to speak to the media and call on someone else not to use the tragedy for political gain. Talk about a hypocrite.

Here is another excerpt and quote from the Fox News story:

The group’s former president, Randall Terry, said that, despite Tiller’s murder, abortion opponents must not retreat from calling him a “mass murderer.”

“The pro-life movement must not be browbeaten by Obama or the child-killers into surrendering our best rhetoric, actions and images. We hold absolutely no responsibility for his death,” Terry said in a written statement.

Again, Terry exploits this heinous murder of Dr. George Tiller for his own selfish and radical political agenda by attacking President Obama. It just goes to show how nutty some of these individuals are when you get right down to it.

SIDE NOTE: The story, which in the eyes of many casts a negative light on far-right conservatives, is no longer getting as high a positioning on the Fox News Web site.

Margery Eagan, a columnist for the Boston Herald, probably did not win any friends on the VERY far-right Fox News Web site, Fox Nation, with a recent piece she wrote.

Here’s a small taste of her column:

It’s been such fun watching the right-wing white boys sputtering over the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor, a Hispanic woman nominated by a black man!

“Our world domination’s slip, slip, slipping away,” you can almost hear them whimper. “What to do?”

Well, you can’t dump on the woman thing. That’s more than half the country. Can’t dump on the Hispanic angle. They’ll be more than half the country soon.

Knowing how so many people (particularly the loyal hardcore right-wing followers of Fox News) feel about racial issues, you can imagine the controversy this has sparked.

Here are some examples of the hatred many conservatives feel toward President Barack Obama. The hate coming from some of these individuals is almost chilling to the bone. These are just a few examples I pulled off the Fox News Web site under a forum entry about whether or not the president should receive an honorary degree:

RedWhiteBlue says:

Should David Duke get an honorary degree from Grambling,Southern University or any other black college? Answer this, and you will have your answer for the Notre Dame fiasco.

Of course not! Obama seeks to destroy the very Constitution which has so well created and sustained the greatest, most free, most fair, and open nation in history. His idea of law fits only the most radically socialist/communist/statist models. His support for infanticide put him in such stark contradiction to Catholic teachings that it does matter how many othe teachings he APPEARS to agree with. Obama is Pro-State and Anti-Cristian. He is for POWER at ALL costs.

The president of ND should be fired inmediately. He should be defrocked and ex-comunicated. He is a fallen leader and as such should be stripped of any leadership role. PERIOD.

In spite of significance evidence to the contrary, North Carolina Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx  is pushing her strange belief that the 1998 murder of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard, a gay student at the University of Wyoming was not an anti-gay hate crime. At issue is a hate crimes bill designed to increase protection for gays and lesbians. Now, there is evidence that includes testimony from one of the perpetrators of this hate crime, that contradict such an opinion, but nonetheless Foxx made the following statement (while, reportedly, Shepard’s mother was in attendance):

“I also would like to point out that there was a bill — the hate crimes bill that’s called the Matthew Shepard bill is named after a very unfortunate incident that happened where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn’t because he was gay. This — the bill was named for him, hate crimes bill was named for him, but it’s really a hoax that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills.

Foxx says, with such definitive force, that it was not only not a hate crime, but that calling it a hate crime is a hoax. Unbelievable. I didn’t really want to believe it until I saw the video. Follow the story on POLITICO to see the evidence that does in fact exist to prove that this was not just some random robbery. All crime must be taken very seriously. However, it is critical that we show that these hate crimes (crimes that show a hateful bias toward a particular group and extends beyond the motive of a specific crime) will not be tolerated in our society.
